The original RJI Implementation Plan ended in December 2008, and RJI Leaders are working tirelessly to re-evaluate, update, and transition the cluster. Be on the lookout for more information.

Key Areas of Focus

  • Support Careers in Manufacturing Technology (CIMT) Program, which comprises:
    Supervisor Training
    Internship Program
    Annual Career Expo
    High School Outreach
  • Promote and connect local manufacturers through online exposure and regular meetings/events
  • Develop and/or support an Advanced Manufacturing Center through partnership with California State University Fresno's colleges of Engineering and Agriculture Sciences
  • Develop a network of resources

Short-term Goals

  • Cluster brainstorm to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats
  • Recruit Cluster Co-Chair and steering committee
  • Develop mission and update goals/objectives
  • Develop meeting schedules and communication preferences
  • Update and enhance online exposure and tools
  • Engage industry stakeholders throughout Fresno County

Background

The Advanced Manufacturing Cluster was created to maximize the potential of the manufacturing industry in Central California. Advanced manufacturing refers to highly flexible, short- to medium-run production, as opposed to high-run assembly line production.
