Central Valley Software Partnership
Key Areas of Focus
- Market the Central Valley for job opportunities
- Create partnerships with higher education and workforce development to better prepare candidates for jobs
- Address lack of trained software technicians with experience; explore a boomerang strategy
- Develop pathways for students and educate schools about professional opportunities in the software development industry
- Develop strategy to increase enrollment in Fresno State’s Computer Science Department and develop a robust internship program
Background
The Central Valley Software Partnership consists of small- to medium-sized businesses with the primary function of software development, as well as a variety of programmers and programming educators. The cluster was formed in October 2005 not necessarily for its size but because industry leaders are enthusiastic about working together to grow the industry and ensure that the local business climate is willing to nurture startups.
